Elizabeth Michelle Lawrence (EML) is a cute, petite brunette Australian wild child who moved to Britain: lucky us! Strictly News popped over to visit her for a chat in the South London apartment that she shares with fellow porn star Rio Mariah.

EML was suffering a little from lack of sleep, proving her reputation as a party animal; we had a coffee while we talked about her life in the porn business. EML has appeared in many British and American porn productions,

The first thing I wanted to ask was about EML's great disappearing act of 2007; while at the Erotica show in November, the Strictly Broadband stand was visited by a parade of increasingly worried porn girls and boys, asking if we'd heard from Elizabeth. She had gone on holiday to the United States, vanished off the face of the earth, and hadn't been heard from for over three weeks. Friend and flatmate Rio in particular was frantic with worry.

EML explained that she had booked with an agency to do a little “holiday work” as a dancer in a club. She received a booking in Las Vegas which turned out to be a sting operation. She was arrested, found to be an “illegal alien” and thrown in the slammer – with no rights to be let go or contact anybody in the outside world. She described life in a Nevada jail.

“It was just like a big dorm with 40 bunk beds and 80 women, and there I think there were about 5 toilets, and 4 showers. We had times that we could shower. From this time to that time, and then the showers went off. So it wasn't a nice experience. You couldn't just get up and go for a cup of coffee in your own kitchen. And some girls are actually in there for years. Years and years and years of the same thing. Up at 4 for breakfast, 10 o clock in the morning for lunch, and 4 o clock for dinner. I got to know some people. I had a little misunderstanding with one of the biggest girls in the jail. But it's alright, I solved it.

“I'm going to appeal it, because it's injustice and I still need to go on holiday! I mean, you don't throw someone in jail for 3 weeks, and then slap a 10 year ban on them and then deport them. That's just cruel. It's harsh. Even my deportation officer said to me, that was bang out of order. I was told by the inmates that federal beds are worth $350 a day, I was there for three and a half weeks. With me being deported as well, it worked out like, ten and a half thousand dollars of tax payers money. American tax payers money. I had my ticket to go back, I wanted to go back but they wouldn't send me back. They wanted to punish me and the punishment was taken beyond a joke. Because I said I really need to get back to the UK, and they said 'we don't care, nobody cares'.

“For the first 4 nights of me being in jail I was in a holding cell with no warm clothes, no blanket, no nothing, then they moved me downstairs. I had to have a cavity search and I was allowed to go downstairs to the main dorm. But the four days in the holding cell, I was eating like, baloney sandwiches, crisps and soggy biscuits with some sort of Kool-Aid. It was absolutely disgusting.


“And when I went to immigration, I wanted to ask question and I wanted to speak to people, and I had this one guy say, 'if you don't shut your face, i'm going to take you out the back and fucking shut it for you' and I was like, what? 'Oh this is a government institution, shut your fucking face'. I was like, you can't talk to me like that! 'I can talk to you however the fuck I like, get the fuck out of my way'.”

So no more trips to the land-of-the-free for EML, at least for a while. So back to the world of porn...

Elizabeth comes from Melbourne originally, and moved to Britain a little over ten years ago, though she retains a good Australian accent and attitude to life. Like TV and dancing and whatever.”

I asked what she's working at these days, and it turns out EML's a busy girl... she shoots regularly for various porn producers, appears on TV (currently Sky channel 956) and is also working on her own businesses.

She complains that her relationship put restrictions on who she could work with. “I got a little bit annoyed about that, and I didn't think there was a reason that I couldn't work with them. I think thats why I couldn't date another porn star, because they don't really... they have this robotic thing in their head and they use it as this excuse of 'well, I wanted to get her some work' That doesn't cut the mustard!
