Occasionally when reviewing for SB, a film comes along which I don't want to tell you anything about - I want you to see it without knowing what's coming next, without spoiling any surprise. Mistress Vanisha ‘The Beginning’ is one of those. It's one I didn't fast-forward, and which made corresponding body parts to those being touched in the film tingle. All this - and without a single hand-job, blow-job, sex or indeed any much deliberate genital stimulation.

The film is made up of four scenes, each featuring Mistress Vanisha and a client. Mistress Vanisha herself is a pretty redhead, slender in black leather boots, plus in different scenes a red corset, seamed fishnet tights, classic black lingerie, and a PVC catsuit. She is attentive towards her clients, managing to somehow treat them with love even when being cruel.

The first client is Katrina, making her first visit to a mistress in ‘The Journey Begins’. She is treated gently, attached to a suspender bar from the ceiling and with a spreader bar between her ankles. In the second scene, 'Mistress Vanisha Bags Michael's Equipment', fit muscular Michel is strictly told the rules (including never to touch Mistress without permission, to only do exactly as she says, and never to look down on her - if standing up straight not to look at her at all). He is then told to strip, and is slowly humiliated. These first two scenes are good, but the second two are the spectacular ones. Drzzt is the errant submissive an hour late to his appointment in 'Mistress Vanisha Disciplines a Tardy Sub', tied to a kneeling stool and whipped till all four cheeks are red. The final scene is 'Yumiko Submits to Intense
Stimulation', which trusts me isn't of the kind you might imagine.

Yumiko is a totally adorable Asian beauty - at one point Vanisha says to camera "I should be getting angry with her but I can't, she's just too sweet'. We see her squirm around trying to avoid Vanisha's touch whilst being ordered to be still. He dark eyes gazing at the camera as she lies in her final 'stimulated' state are truly beautiful.

The film is very 'real' - the participants acknowledge the camera but don't play up to it. I don't know the story behind it but they genuinely seem to be actual clients who've agreed to be filmed, except perhaps Michel, who seems a bit surprised and unsure of the whole thing and at the end of his scene does the only apparent 'acting' in the film. Drzzt and particularly Yumiko seem 100 per cent genuine.

The camera's eye view is as if you are there in the room. The action is totally unhurried - we see pretty much what would actually happen during a half-hour session with the mistress.

Various whips and flogs are applied, along with the flat of Vanisha's hand, and a spike wheel is used in two scenes. Candle wax is also dripped liberally. We see some proper rope-work bondage too. But it's the timing, the words, the chemistry between the 'performers' that makes the film, and shows that fetish is ultimately about so much more than the 'tools of the trade'. This makes all those supposed fetish films that just roll out the latex outfits and boxes of toys look brash and fake.

So where's the fun in that? You're making a porn scene, you want to include bondage, but what's the point in tying up the girl if you can't fuck her? The answer? You just have to be creative - use your imagination and do everything but fuck her, and she'll be gagging for it. It takes skilled performers to make it genuinely exciting to watch, but I've found a selection of movies on Strictly Broadband that really showed the beauty and variety of bondage fun that can be found in perfectly legal porn.

The Filthy Things series contains some of the most fucked up, horny bondage I've seen in a porno in a long time. The director, Jim Powers, says in Filthy Things 4, "I put in lots of bondage because I love seeing girls tied up, kicking and flailing around. I've never been one of these 'dungeon bondage' type of guys cos i find the movies themselves boring, and rules say no sex in bondage. But these movies portray these girls as objects for our enjoyment - dehumanization or degradation or whatever - we capture them, we tie them up... it's just like being a butterfly collector".

Filthy Things makes great use of bondage - both visual, using brightly coloured ballgags and similar neon lingerie on all the girls, and mental, as the girls thrash about, cowering in mock terror as their captors come at them with all manner of devices, and touch them in sensitive, exposed places. The ropes bind them either in positions of availability, promiscuity - legs bound over her head for easy access to her hole, or simply all spread out and standing up. Some of the acting is divine, such as Audry Hollander's scene in Filthy Things 5 - bound spread eagle and trembling in a closet, chains coming off her eyelids, pussy lips and nipples, looking beautifully distressed as she's fed honey, spoonful by spoonful. Next, she's bound on the bed as a sex object, played with by a stud, who hauls her about by her ropes, slaps her about, and torments her with dirty words as she whimpers through her gag. She screams, squirms and finally begs for a fucking (just as the ropes come off), but the bondage lasts long enough (half the scene) to really set the mood of sexual servitude. If you're into this kink, and you like to see women tied and treated as fucktoys, with plenty of verbal domination into the bargain, (it's ok - I do!) then Filthy Things 4 and 5 are the movies for you.

Traditionally, though, bondage hasn't always been about degradation and sexual availability. It originated in Japan, where it was a noble, beautiful thing, practiced both as an art form and as a sexual kink. Asian Bondage Fantasies 1 and 2 are erotic, beautiful movies set in dungeons, starring exclusively Japanese girls, and best of all, using proper hemp rope, for an authentic feel. One thing you'll find in these movies, as in most Japanese porn, which you'll either love or hate, is the distressed noises the girls make - a constant impression of both agony and ecstasy as they whimper, wail and moan under the attentions of their partner.
